WHAT A PLACE. So much to do in the 3 days we stayed here. We stayed at the Blue Lake Holiday Park which is central to all the tourist attractions. It is also right across the road from their famous Blue Lake which was super handy for walking the dogs with a view. Once we finally found a camp site that would fit the caravan we unpacked and went out to explore the coast of SA ( South Australia)

First up was the Famous Blue Lake. You are unable to swim or take your boat into the Blue Lake as the water is used for town water. And good luck getting down in there for your swim if you dare there are cliffs all the way around. Very nice for a leisurely stroll around the 3.6 km lake. We must of been walking slow because some young whipper snipper passed us 3 times. The lake changes different shades of blue throughout the season and also day so just be mindful if your looking for Azure blue all the time. We also had time to visit 2 of the sinkholes Mt Gambier has to offer. We visited Umperherston Sinkhole which was a beautiful garden in a hole so to speak. You would almost think you are on some tropical island in Hawaii… spectacular. The gardens and flowers they have in there are amazing .The other Sinkhole we visited was in the Cave Gardens which is in the township of Mount Gambier. This sinkhole had a few waterfalls very pretty indeed. Mount Gambier is famous for its caves, lakes and sinkholes so ensure you have enough time to spare to enjoy .Some of the attractions are kms apart i would suggest minimum 2 days .There are a few attractions that you have to book prior to arriving . We went out to Kilsby Sinkhole which is famous for their snorkelling and diving. As it is on a private property and Covid they only take bookings online or by phone only.

As we stayed around the lake area we also walked the dogs around the green lake which is fantastic they cater for Everyone including large groups and families. There are so many walks short enough for the lil feet and big feet and bbq areas. Well thought out for anyone that wants to visit and have a swim in the clear water.

Tantanoola Caves is also a place to visit. Only 25kms from Mt Gambier well worth it. Cost is $15 each for a 1/2 hour guided tour. Mt Gambier is a pretty little town and has a small little precinct with lots of Restaurants and Cafes. It is also a great stopover if your on your way to Adelaide which is over 400kms away.
