Mountview wines is nestled in to the heart of surrounded wineries in Glen Aplin which is situated 11km
South of the famous Stanthorpe. Mountview wines was Est in 1921 and is still thriving today now with accomodation. This winery is famously known for its Bloody Good Red which is an amazing Blend of Shiraz, Merlot and Cabernet. The winery is set on just over 40 acres and has an amazing view of Mount Tully. The famous cellar door with the Green Grass roof is open Friday to Sunday check the hours for the opening of the cellar door and their recently opened accomodation and camping http://www.mountviewwines.com.au. You will also be welcomed by the amazing hosts and the fury delights ….the dogs they love pats. Don’t be shy to ask for a famous MV cheese board.
Just down the road is Stanthorpe which is known to be the coldest town in Queensland. I can vouch for that i lived through it. The town is also known for the little brass monkey which sits as a statue in the top of the town. Story says this place is enough to freeze your balls off.
Stanthorpe has so much to offer with its boutique wineries, produce, markets and a variety of places to suit your culinary tastes. It is also in the heart of the Granite Belt so you are spoilt for choice on different types of accomodation to suit your budget and needs.
There are tours that you can find on line if you would like to explore the vast wine tours that also cater for lunches if you want to make a day of it to enjoy with family or friends.
For the fit enthusiasts there are many walks close by to enjoy Bald and Giraween National Parks are a must to see the stone work and views are second to none. Early morning treks or late afternoon depending on closure times are the best time to enjoy if time permits.
The Granite Belt is an amazing place. Take time to have a couple of days to enjoy this spectacular place.
