Riverwood Downs is located in Upper Monkerai 1hr 30 min North West of New Castle in New South Wales. It is pronounced Monkaree or Monkas for the locals. Riverwood Downs is on 300 hectare with the Resort set on 15 acres of lush green parkland. It started out over 40 years ago as a camping ground by Chris and Val Hall and is now owned and managed by their daughters Toni and Rachel.

We had the privilege of working here and enjoyed our time and learning new skills

A bit about the property Riverwood Downs is set on the banks of the Karuah River in the Scenic hills of Barrington Tops. The valley in which is set in offers a playground of the unique and playful platypus..

This resort is well known for its accomodation which caters for all lifestyles. The main resort setting has a colonial setting with a wool shed attached to cater for functions, conferences and weddings. They offer resort accomodation, camping, cabins, Bunk house, cottages and the new homestead that is located down the road from the Resort.It is also known for the river which runs through the property and is very welcoming in the swimming holes over the hot summer months.

There are 2 Restaurants located on the property one of them is pet friendly so your pooch can join you for dinner too with a 🐕dog menu. There is a kiosk that offers hot and cold food pretty much what you want whilst on holiday.

There is also a bar here which I thoroughly enjoyed working our magic of cocktail afternoons it certainly went off 🍸🍸 cheers

You can bring your own tube or canoe to ride the rapids in the river when it is high or just enjoy fishing around the many lakes and the river of course..

There are designated walks on the property you can do whilst on your stay here if you wanted to get your steps in whilst on holiday… It is a big property and offers maps on check-in.

Riverwood Downs is well known for hosting weddings and have won so many awards for Wedding Venue Eco, Wedding Venue Coordinator for Hunter Valley and New Castle. I can certainly vouch for these awards as I have been part of this adventure and been able to experience some amazing weddings whilst working . All the catering is cooked on site for a seamless and perfect event .

The resort offers a gift shop with many items that you can purchase from shoes to earrings they have it all.

If you need to unwind and relax this is the place to come.

Riverwood Downs is located close to Dungog, Stroud and Gloucester should you need to restock groceries on your stay.

I highly recommend this place for a visit . It is on gravel road for 12km from the Buckets way to Riverwood Downs so a good suspension or 4wd would be the best option If not drive slowly and enjoy the scenery.
