Streaky Bay is located on the Western Side of the Eyre Peninsula in South Australia.
This place is known for its stunning coastal scenery and fantastic seafood. We were lucky enough to stay in a caravan park that had a kiosk that served local fish and chips. You can not go past their local Whiting or Butter Fish cooked properly they melt in your mouth and are delicious.
There is so much to do here in the bay and the surrounds. Our caravan site was located right on the beach so we had a magnificent view of the bay, the clear water the bay has to offer , and the pelicans that liked to sit on the beach all day waiting to be fed by some lucky fisherman.
Just down the road from here there are three scenic drives not far from the bay, Westall Way Loop, Cape Bauer and Point Labatt.
We stayed here for two days so decided to see all three and were taken in by the different landscapes and beaches they have here.
Westall way loop is a 30km coastal loop, 9km south of the bay. Allow up to 3 hours as there is so much to see.
At Point Westall you can set up camp at tractor beach and walk along the existing pathways on the high cliffs and see the sea stacks of the Southern Ocean. There is also a popular surf beach near by and a lagoon style rock pools so it is a water haven for most to enjoy.
We also enjoyed Cape Bauer Loop that takes 1-2 hours if you want to visit most bays and walk along the beaches. The scenery along this section of beach is rugged and spectacular. Whistling rocks and the Blowholes are a must and the walkway of 360m is a great walk out

The coastline is also significant breeding habitat for the raptors, unfortunately we were unable to see any on our visit.
Point Labatt Sea lion Scenic Drive will take you half a day and we did not get the chance to visit . I have heard it is the place to go and see. They have a 50m platform above the colony of sea lions to observe them in their natural habitat. I have swam with these beautiful creatures but would like to observe them on the land . Next lap i guess.
After you have visited all these beaches you can come back to the bay and stroll around the little cute town of Streaky Bay. There is the Pier which have a lot of fisherman out there to catch their priced fish for dinner , or you can take a walk and watch the sunset.
Streaky Bay is definitely a place to visit, any time of the year is perfect.
