Esperance is a coastal town in the Goldfields-Esperance Region of Western Australia. This place is surrounded by many beautiful beaches. The Great Ocean Drive is a 40 km circular loop that features so many stunning beaches along the way. The best beaches you will come across on your drive are Blue Haven,Hellfire Bay,West Beach,Salmon Beach. They are all different and unique in their own way. Some of the beaches have great surf, swimming and others are all rock and suitable for fishing.

The view from the drive is spectacular for 20kms along the coast before you start the loop road back to Esperance. This road is also known as the most beautiful stretch of coastal road in Australia. On this drive your will also come across the Pink Lake that is not so pink anymore due to lack of Salt Concentration and hue, if conditions change over time the colour will come back.

The Ocean drive can be found west of the town ,allow a couple of hours if you want to stop and explore the many bays and walks there is to offer.

The town also offers a walk along the foreshore which also has the towns New Jetty. The old Jetty 1km away can be seen from the new one which holds so much history. When the new jetty opened some of the locals were not so welcoming to it as the original one holds so much history. The old jetty symbolises sadness to those pre 1967 . The Jetty marked a boundary that the Aboriginal people could not cross this boundary into the town of Esperance at nightfall as there was a curfew . Some would hide under the jetty under seaweed until the morning so as to not be seen breaking curfew.

Further on down the coast is Cape Le Grande National Park .The drive out there takes 56km on sealed road and a day pass will cost you $15. The park covers an area of 31,801 ha and has ancient landscape which has been above sea level for over 200 million years. In todays terms means there is a lot of good rock to walk on and explore. The main walk here is Frenchman’s Peak which stands 262m high and looks grand when your driving towards it. You will be able to get a panoramic view of all the surrounds including the amazing beaches here. The walk is listed as moderate so most people would be able to conquer this feat….unless you don’t like heights.

All the beaches here in the National Park are amazing with the white sand and clear blue waters. On your travels save the the best beach for last which is Lucky Bay. It is definitely worth it. As you round the corner and are above Lucky Bay stop and take in its beauty , it is absolutely mind blowing .The sand is so white and the water is Turquoise Blue. You are left in awe with the sheer beauty. You can also camp here so we will definitely be back here in Summer Time…next trip. Esperance has so much to offer and so much to see and do. We only stayed 2 days here which was not enough time to see everything. I wished we could have stayed longer.

This would have to be one of the top contenders for places to visit in the world. The coastline is absolutely incredible, pristine and perfect .If you love the coast and beaches put this on your list, it is an absolute must to visit. Sadly this is the end of the west coast beaches and coast after almost 2 months here we will make our way north and then east. Until our next visit we love you Western Australian Coast you have been an absolute gem x
