We came to Burra a small town mid north of South Australia so we could camp behind this iconic pub named the Bon Accord. I grew up in Bon Accord Harbour in New Zealand so it had some kind of resemblance to me ALCOHOL….

So we pull up at the pub and park up for free which is great you just need to spend $20 at the pub which is very easy for me. The pub interior was set in the early 1920s and each room was very unique with old mahogany walls and furniture. They even had a pianola there for your entertainment. Some people were thrashing that thing way too much but its all about having fun .The hosts are very friendly and the food (pub grub) was sensational. I had the Rump Steak which was cooked to perfection and Paul had the chicken Snitty . And yes we did go over the $20 per night budget but the experience of being here and the food was fantastic.

We only stayed the night in Burra so we had limited time to do the touristy things. I did get a chance to take the dogs for a walk past the old train station .It even had an old carriage parked on the tracks out the front. It would be awesome if they turned it into a restaurant one day. I also had the chance to walk past the mining museum , with its vast mining history it should be a to do on your tourist list for Burra

We hit the road again early in the morning and drove through the very small and pretty town of Burra. They have a lot of white stone buildings which add character to the town.

Burra is well known for its copper mine back in 1845 and was credited with saving South Australia from bankruptcy.

A nice place for a one night stop over.
