Whyalla means Deep Water
Location: Discovery Camping Park South Australia
Things to Do
- Whyalla Museum
- Hummock Hill Lookout
- Point Lowly Lookout
- Whyalla Circular Jetty
Whyalla was a stop over for us before venturing on to the south of the peninsula to Port Lincoln. Great place to recharge and rest. It would not be high on my tourist destinations but that is me. It is high on history and known as ”Steel City ” due to its steel works and ship building . The demographics of the town are very confusing and very run down.
It is known for its gusty winds so is you have a lot of washing to get dry this is your place.
Whyalla has a lot of history even the queen has been here twice. It is also famously known for The Australian Giant Cuttlefish for only a few months of the year when their luminescent goliaths converge on these waters.
Our camping ground was close to the Round Jetty so off we went for a walk to see this amazing wonder that Whyalla has to offer. You get the chance too see all the ships that are ready to come into port .
Thanks for the stay Whyalla
