What a greeting to the Great Ocean Road the view from above as we were coming down the hill was spectacular. We chose to stay at Marengo Bay which is the next bay over from Apollo Bay as the price difference was quite significant in cost $$$$.The camping ground was packed and as we went around a couple of times to find our site we became a bit of the laughing stock. Marengo bay is a long white sandy beach that has seals that sit on the rocks just out from the Bay. We tried to get the kayak in close to capture some pictures of them but it became too rough and dangerous.

We spent our days driving the Southern End of the Great Ocean Road and took the road all the way down to Geelong. Passed through Lorne, Aireys Inlet down to Torquay. There were so many beaches to park up and have lunch. We passed under the Great Ocean Road sign and just up from there are some very whooping big architect built houses that sit on the edge of the cliff.

We biked into Apollo bay one day to go and get some bread from the Bakery. The bakery we stopped at sold Scallop Pies which apparently are very famous in this town. I saw a few people eating them as much as i love Scallops i don’t think i can have it in a pie. So i really got amongst it and had a meat pie instead.

Apollo Bay is a pretty little bay with the Marina and Golf Club right beside each other great view for the golfers. They have a brewery and a lot of cafes and restaurants.

We stayed 4 nights in Marengo Bay to capture the southern end of the Great Ocean Road as it is 240km long and a bit overwhelming to take all in, in one trip. Each to their own but if you want to take the entire Great Ocean Road in take your time as the roads are quite windy and windey. There are many rest stops that you can do on the road so don’t fret. One thing i would like to come back and do is the actual walk I am sure it will be absolutely incredible.

Above the bay Apollo Bay before we hit the GOR Great Ocean Road for the first time .
