There is always something when it comes for FREE and thats just it camping. We arrived from LAKE HUME approximately 4.5 hour drive including a few stops for the dogs and lunch only to find the original place in Bendigo we were originally going to stay was not suitable by no means. The park was very small and it looked like it housed a lot of residents. The rubbish and non up keep of the park was a real put off so we hightailed it down the highway. The second free camp was not much better so after lunch we were off again in search of our dream free camp destination. By now it was past wine o clock time and i was starting to get a bit on edge. So back into the free camping around Australia Book and we came across this place LAKE BURRUMBEET.
You can Stay for up to 28 days FREE. Toilets provided ….but park close to them as this area is a couple of kms long. And if you need a shower there is the lake unless you have a fully self contained vehicle. It is a good place to host parties if your that way inclined there are a few happening tonight .. ill need to go check it out. For free camping this place is a bargain just make sure your supplies are well stocked as the closest town is 20+kms away. Paulie myself and the dogs after arriving close to 5pm had a chance to walk around a portion of the lake and take in the magnificent views. You can also see the lights of Ballarat in the distance across the lake at night which was beautiful. Waking up in the morning to the amazing sunrise is also another treat from this destination in the middle of no where.
**Check out Camps Australia Wide *** for your free camping guide they are amazing. Purchase your book or hopefully someone will gift it for your travels highly recommend.
NOTE :This place is definitely off the beaten track but well worth the visit.
