The only place to stay close to the Hunter Valley was Cessnock and it was just perfect to visit some of the 150+ Wineries and Breweries. We visited Pepper Tree and Tyrells winery as they are very well known. Being a wine connoisseur, particularly of goon sacks, I only chose two wineries so I could spend more time drinking. It can be quite overwhelming when your driving around trying to find places to go so a quick tip is to map out your journey on Google Maps (or Apple for those who are living in the stone age) prior to your departure.

We also had the chance to visit a few breweries as Paulie has increased his daily drinking average to 1 standard drinks per day. The Hope Brewery was very impressive and they not only brew beer on site but also offer wine and gin. The Mighty Hunter Valley Brewery was another place we checked out and a paddle of small beers there will set you back $16.

PS: You can only stay a maximum of 28 Days at the Showgrounds 😉
