Blackheath is located within the Blue Mountains which is only a short drive from Sydney. Great for a day trip but there is so much to do that I would definitely recommend 3 days or longer.

We based ourselves at this campsite so we could go out and venture into the wilderness. Given Paulie is terribly afraid of heights, we decided to do our first walk at Wentworth Falls. The walk itself will take you at least 2 hours so make sure you’re prepared with some snacks, water, and warm clothing. The walk is very steep going down so be sure to have some good lung capacity when you have to walk back out. It is well worth it though and getting toned at the same time is a bonus. The stairway to heaven is rather steep and Paulie was able to manage and not have too many breakdowns on the walk.

We also visited Scenic world in Katoomba. Be sure to check out the Dinosaur walk – its legendary. The rides into the mountain are spectacular and scary. For the price of $49 per adult it is well worth it. We tried to go and visit the Jenolan Caves but once we travelled all the way there from Blackheath (150km return round trip), we found it was closed…..DOH.
