Paulie and I have commenced our travels around Australia in our caravan Taj. We’ve started at one of our frequented spots in Kenilworth at The Kenilworth Showgrounds. This is a great place for a few night visit only a short drive (under 1 hour) inland from Sunshine Coast hot spot beaches like Noosa and Coolum. They have all the amenities like a shower and toilet and also place to dispose of waste from your caravan or campervan. It’s also a perfect place for kids with a swimming pool and skate park on site.

Across the road is the Kenilworth Dairy which is a must stop visit if you enjoy your cheeses and yoghurts. They make Cheese, Yoghurt and ice-creams on site and entry to the place is free. In addition to what they make they also sell local made jams and pickles.

Only a 5 minute walk from the camping grounds will you find the infamous Kenilworth Bakery. Roll up your sleeves and have a hungry belly if you want to try the 1KG jam donut. You’ll even win a small prize for conquering the feat. They have a huge selection of small donuts to choose from with delicious fillings inside. You can also get great coffee and savoury pastries from here if sweets aren’t ya thang.

We visited the local Kenilworth Pub because I mean there isn’t a whole lot of places to eat out here. They make great pork rolls and have other pub food and alcoholic (or not) beverages on offer. There is also a brewery there for the beer enthusiasts, or Dad’s that just need a bloody break.

Behind the Showgrounds you will find the Mary River which is a great place to cool off on a hot summers day. The days here can be stifling hot. There are also many bushwalks and falls nearby at Boolumba Falls. BEWARE as you can only take 4WD to most of the walking spots at Boolumba Falls. Although we have seen a small Ford Fiesta get through flood waters above waist deep (LOL).
